As a group PYA have recently been able to conduct several recruitment and consultation visits within the local community which has given us the opportunity to engage and interact with young people from the Penarth area. This has included visits to local uniformed groups: Army Cadets, Sea Cadets and Air Cadets, as well as Girl Guiding and Scouting Groups. We have also visited one of our local youth clubs, Elfed Avenue Youth Club, and finished our recruitment drive with a visit to the Beyond Xtreme youth group at Tabernacle church.
These visits have been invaluable to us as a group as they have allowed us to take on board the opinions of a diverse range of local young people which has aided us in representing young people accurately through our work this term. Young people have given us their ideas for information to include in our recent section 106 funding report as well as new ideas for events we are hoping to organise later this year. These ideas have been included in our reports and have been discussed extensively in recent PYA and Penarth Town Council meetings.
