Keep Wales Tidy
On the 17th of September PYA Members attended the Keep Wales Tidy focus group to share the progress on their litter report. They were also able to hear what work is being done by volunteers across the Vale to tackle litter in every community. It was great to learn how much work the people of the Vale are putting in to make their communities better.
Penarth Poppy Appeal
Members of PYA helped to raise money for the Penarth Poppy Appeal during the October half-term break, where they ran a stall at the Asda in Cardiff Bay.
Penarth Christmas Lights
PYA Members attended the Penarth Christmas Lights event on the 17th of December. They used a game of Jenga to connect with the community, asking the public different questions about Penarth ranging from safety and public transport to green space and summer events. Members also raised money for the Town Mayor’s chosen charity, Tenovus. The event raised £51.27 for the charity in total. One of our members said that the best moment of the term was raising this money for charity!
Members attended the GPG Annual Group Meeting, where they discussed a net-zero Penarth, how the community could get there and what it would look like. They agreed that it was an interesting event, and it would be good to see these changes in Penarth.
Litter Report
PYA Members have completed their litter report which includes findings from their survey, recommendations and details from their own litter pick in the summer. Members have created an infographic poster that summarises their findings and are going to distribute the posters around the community.
One member said that “the litter campaign has been super interesting and I enjoyed it a lot,” from starting with a survey to conducting consultations and facilitating litter picks in the community.
