GPG Event in June

On the 13th June 2024 PYA Members had the opportunity to speak with members of the public and GPG at the Greener Living Event, which took place in St Augustine Hall. PYA members were able to hear more about what work has taken place to support Penarth’s environmental status as well as having the opportunity to share the work they have undertaken too. It was great to learn about different organisations and initiatives to combat waste as well as sharing concerns around the costs associated with the school day.

Litter Pick

On the 30th July members of PYA members undertook a litter pick in Penarth as part of their litter campaign work. Members started at Belle Vue Park and the walked down Plassey Street, it was very hot, but members still continued with their planned route and it finished with a well-deserved ice-cream! There was a lot of rubbish, but it was very beneficial as members discovered cigarette buds and litter in drains. Members have discussed that they would like to partake in another litter pick.

During July PYA members were invited to Cogan Primary school and Dinas Powys Primary school- members had the chance to meet and speak to the year 6’s about PYA and what we do, afterwards we allowed them to place sticky notes on different pieces of papers, We asked three questions, what do they like about Penarth, what they dislike about Penarth and what they would like to see in Penarth in the next 5 years. It was great to see their responses and suggestions to the questions. A lot of suggestions for more football facilities and improved park were made.
