The Cardiff Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 2nd October 2016 and will pass through Penarth as part of the route.
Road closures will be in place to allow for the race between 9am and 12pm so it is worth checking to see if any journeys you have planned to ensure you don’t experience delays.

The roads to be closed are;-
Road closures (numbers 1 – 5 inclusive) will be required between the hours of 9.00am and 12.00noon;-
1 / A4055 – Cogan Spur (closed in both directions) from its junction with the A4160 Penarth Road in a northeasterly direction to the county boundary.
2 / A4160 – Windsor Road (Cogan Hill) closed in a southeasterly direction from its junction with the A4055 Cogan Spur to its junction with Marconi Avenue, this will include the gyratory of the roundabout at Marconi Avenue, though it will still allow traffic to exit Penarth in a northwesterly direction only.
3 / A4160 – Penarth Road (closed in both directions) from its junction with the A4055 Cogan Spur/Barry Road in a generally northwesterly direction to the county boundary with Cardiff at the river Ely.
4 / A4055 – Barry Road from its junction with the A4160 Penarth Road in a generally southwesterly direction to its junction with Penlan Road, at the Merrie Harrier junction Llandough (this road will only be closed to northeastbound traffic, this will allow traffic to exit from Penarth to the Merrie Harrier junction).
5 / Llandough Hill (closed in both directions), from its junction with Penarth Road for a distance of approximately 210m. in a generally westerly direction.
Road closures (numbers 6 – 9 inclusive) will be required between the hours of 9.45am and 12.00noon;-
6 / Marconi Avenue (closed in both directions), from its junction with the A4160 Windsor Road (Cogan Hill), to its junction with Terra Nova Way, this will include the gyratory of the roundabout at Terra Nova Way.
7 / Terra Nova Way (both directions), throughout its length.
8 / Penarth Portway (closed in both directions), between Terra Nova Way and the barrage car park, including the gyratory of the roundabout at its junction with Terra Nova Way.
9 / Paget Road (also known as Dock Road) (closed in both directions), will also need to be closed between its junction with Paget Terrace and Penarth Portway, this will include the gyratory of the roundabout at its junction with Penarth Portway.
A signed diversion shall be in operation for traffic unable to use A4055 Cogan Spur/Barry Road and A4160 Penarth Road will be in place via the B4267 Penlan Road and Leckwith Road, due to a weak bridge at the bottom of Leckwith Hill this route will be unsuitable for vehicles over 7.5 tonnes (11 tonnes if they are a public service vehicle on a local route, Emergency Service vehicles, local Authority Highway Maintenance vehicles), larger vehicles will have to travel via the A4231 Barry Docks Link, and A4050 Port Road.
