The Kymin has been abuzz as construction work has been taking place in the grounds of the Kymin House to create a perfect new home for bugs.
The Town Council has built a new hotel for all types of insects to help to increase levels of biodiversity at the site.
It is not known whether the insects are booking their stays through Exbeedia or Treevago but humans are, as always, free to visit and explore the grounds.
Did you know that an average garden could hold over 2,000 different species of insect?
By providing the right habitats, we can greatly increase the number of beneficial insects in the garden. Some wild invertebrates such as bumblebees and solitary bees are declining in numbers in the wider countryside, so by providing homes we can contribute to their conservation.
Creating a bug hotel supplements the increasing loss of natural habitat and encourages beneficial insects to help control pests. Welcoming beneficial insects and pollinators into a garden also reduces or eliminates the need for pesticides.
The hotel follows the recent award to the Kymin of prestigious Green Flag status. The Town Council hopes that the insects will enjoy using their new accommodation and hope to continue to develop the grounds and woodland at the Kymin site as an important and well managed local wildlife habitat.
