Penarth Town Council has two vacancies for friendly, hands-on individuals to join our vibrant Facilities Team starting 1st September 2021.

The facilities team works hard to maintain and improve, the Town Council’s venues and open spaces. Both positions will require flexibility, at times working on weekends and evenings. Both positions will require the post holder to quickly adapt to the varying demands of the role, be able to work as part of a team and on their own. Often Working alongside members of the community the applicants will need to communicate positively and sympathetically with members of the public and always reflect the high standards of Penarth Town Council.

Facilities Officer

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor and working closely with the rest of the team, the post holder will carry out a range of duties to maintain our venues and open spaces. The successful applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and improving the image of Penarth Town Council’s Open spaces.
  • Assist with the upkeep of our venues, including West House, Paget Rooms, The Turner House, and the Cemetery Chapel.
  • Supervise venue hires and public events
  • Ensuring safety and security of all properties
  • any other duties as required.

This position will suit an individual who enjoys DIY and hands-on working where every day is different.

Starting Salary is £22,183 (SCP 12) to £23,541 SCP 15-

Facilities and Open Spaces Officer

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor the post holder will work with the Cemetery Officer to ensure that Penarth Cemetery continues to positively reflect its important position within the community. The successful applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the graves, headstones, grounds, and buildings
  • helping to facilitate burials,
  • supervise the community events in our newly refurbished Chapel.
  • maintaining and improving the image of Penarth Town Council’s Open spaces.
  • assisting in the planning and implementing of environmentally friendly horticultural projects,
  • the maintenance of existing gardens, herbaceous borders, and open spaces,
  • any other duties as required commensurate with the grade of the post.

This position will suit an individual who loves working outdoors. Although not essential, a background in horticulture would be an advantage.
