Penarth’s Town Mayor, Councillor Melissa Rabaiotti, hosted her Civic Service at All Saints Church in Penarth on September 24, 2023. The Civic Service is a long-standing tradition in the civic calendar, providing a formal acknowledgment of the newly elected Town Mayor.
During the service, Cllr Rabaiottti was joined by her daughter and Consort, Alexandra Rabaiotti-Vaughan. Reverend Young conducted the service, which was well attended by family, friends, civic dignitaries, Town and Vale Councillors, community representatives, and representatives of the Town Mayor’s chosen charity.
Cllr Rabaiotti’s service featured participation from her friends and family, who performed and recited readings selected by the Mayor herself. The local organization Penarth Youth Action played a significant role in collecting contributions for the Mayor’s designated charities. Additionally, this year, the Town Mayor appointed two Mayor’s cadets from Penarth Sea Cadets to assist with civic duties during their term in office.
Following the church service, attendees proceeded to a reception at the Paget Rooms in support of the Mayor’s selected charities: RNLI Penarth Lifeboats and Action for Children.
