Penarth’s Town Mayor, Councillor Gwenda Roberts, held her bilingual Civic Service at All Saints Church in Penarth on September 22, 2024. This event is a longstanding tradition in the civic calendar, formally recognising the newly elected Town Mayor.

Cllr Roberts was accompanied by her daughter and Consort, Ms. Elin Brugess, during the service. The ceremony was led by Parch. Kevin Davies and Lay Reader Mr. Hugh Bryant, with a strong turnout of family, friends, civic dignitaries, Town and Vale Councillors and community members.

Cllr Roberts’ family took part in the service, reciting poems selected by the Mayor, with musical contributions from the Tenovus Choir.

Penarth Youth Action and the RAF Air Cadets played key roles in collecting donations for the Mayor’s charity, Tenovus. This year, the Mayor also appointed a cadet from the RAF Air Cadets to assist with civic duties during her term.

After the service, guests attended a reception at the Turner House Gallery, where harpist Eluned Henry played for guests.
