Following the First Minister Mark Drakeford’s announcement of a two week “firebreak” lockdown beginning Friday 23rd, Penarth Town Mayor Cllr Mark Wilson is asking the public to make the most of our local businesses.

Cllr Wilson said:
“With the new lock down coming up this Friday, it is important that residents think about supporting the local shops in Penarth that will be forced to close during the locked down period. Many of these shops are independent traders who rely on passing trade in the town centre, so it is vital that we give them as much support as we can afford. “

Finally the town mayor asked that everyone adheres to the government guidelines and added:
Please stay safe everyone and support each other”

Penarth’s independent businesses have proven throughout 2020 that they are more than capable of rising to the challenge posed by Covid-19, with new and innovative ways to support the local community while we are staying at home. A healthy independent businesses sector is vital to the health of any town and with challenges continuing, it is crucial that we work together to support each other. Penarth Town Council will be in contact with local businesses over the coming days to create a list of online and delivery services are available to the public during the Welsh lockdown.
