This year’s COVID-19 Day of Reflection will take place on Sunday 8 March 2026.
To mark this, the Town Mayor, Cllr. Emma Richards laid a wreath at Penarth’s tree of remembrance at the Cliff Tops. The Mayor was joined by her consort, fellow councillors, staff of Penarth Town Council and representatives of the public. Those assembled heard a speech of reflection from the Mayor and observed a minute’s silence together.
The COVID-19 Day of Reflection is an opportunity to come together to remember those who lost their lives since the pandemic began and to honour the tireless work and acts of kindness shown during this unprecedented time.
The date aims to:
- remember and commemorate those who lost their lives since the pandemic began
- reflect on the sacrifices made by many, and on the impact of the pandemic on us all
- pay tribute to the work of health and social care staff, frontline workers and researchers
- appreciate those who volunteered and showed acts of kindness during this unprecedented time
Following the minute’s silence, a robin perched on the tree of remembrance, as shown in the photograph.
