The Town Mayor Cllr Ian Buckley presented Penarth Town Council’s Outstanding Citizens Award to Mrs Elsie Wolahan. The outstanding citizen award is reserved for members of the community that go above and beyond to improve the lives of others.
Cllr Buckley said:
“I want to thank Elsie for years of Time, Effort and Commitment she has dedicated to Penarth Ageing Well Club which provides such an essential service especially after the effects of the last 2 years.
The Penarth Agiing Well Club is a self-funded club for the over 50s who meet every wednesday at Glyndwr Hall in penarth. The main aim of the group is to get people out and about socially and get them fitter and more healthy, so they are enjoying their older age. The group is open to anyone over the age of 50 and always welcomes new members.
Jean Walker, who organises activities for the group said:
“Most of our members are over 70, mostly ladies but a few gents, we have been going for about 15 years and our programme consists of some form of exercise followed by coffee then a demonstration or speaker.”
Cllr Buckley and everyone at Penarth Town Council would like to thank Mrs Mrs Wolahan for all she does in the community and wish her the best in all her future endeavours.
