The Turner House gallery have announced their first major open-entry art exhibition showcasing the creative talent from those living in Penarth and surrounding areas.

Artists of all ages and abilities can submit their creations to be exhibited in the gallery from the 30th September to the 31st October 2021. It is completely free to enter, and Locals are invited to submit up to two artworks of any medium and size.

The open exhibition will be an annual highlight of the arts calendar in Penarth with many local artists already expressing their interest. There will also be a civic reception hosted by the Town Mayor, Cllr Ian Buckley, and opportunities to take part in hands-on workshops and events.

The gallery team said:

“We are really excited about this exhibition. We really believe that everyone is an artist at heart, and we want to make sure there is always a dedicated space in The Turner House to celebrate the creative talents from our community.”

The reopening of The Turner House took place on May 20th 2021 with an exhibition of illustrations by Quentin Blake. Visitors have been incredibly positive about the relaunch, with over 900 visitors recorded in the first few weeks of opening.

The gallery is operated by Penarth Town Council in partnership with National Museum Wales. The team are currently preparing for their next exhibition: Henri Matisse, Cut Outs, which opens on the 29th of July.

The deadline to apply is Monday the 16th of August at mid-day.

All submissions are subject to a review process by a panel of representatives from Penarth Town Council and Amgueddfa Cymru.
