Residents and visitors will be happy to hear the Town’s ‘Welcome to Penarth’ Signage is back in place having undergone a full refurbishment.
You may also notice the addition of a new sign which showcases Penarth as a Fairtrade Town .
Penarth Has been proudly held the status of a Fairtrade Town since 2006.
The Fairtrade initiative is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. By requiring companies to pay above market prices, Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their lot and have more control over their lives.
As shops reopen and residents return to support independent businesses in Penarth, keep an eye out for the FAIRTRADE consumer label which appears on a range of retail and catering products in shops across the town and guarantees a fairer deal for all.
