Past presidents of Penarth Rotary Club recently presented Penarth Town Council with the rotary chain and certificate.
David Wheeler, Val Kacal and Brian Morgan (all past presidents) presented 2017-18’s Town Mayor, Cllr. Ken Lloyd with the framed items, which will be displayed in the council chamber
Penarth Rotary Club was established in 1937 and disbanded in 2016. The Club donated the clock on the roundabout in 1987 to mark their golden anniversary.
The Annual Fireworks Fiesta in Penarth was started by the club nearly 40 years ago, but now continues under the management of Penarth Rugby Club and Penarth Round Table.
As long-time residents of Dinas Powys, Val and Brian got invited to join the Dinas Powys Rotary Club and are now active members there.
Although the members were sad to see the club disband they hope that one day there could be hope for a new Penarth Rotary Club.
