Penarth Town Council recently installed a public access defibrillator at West House.

This allows 24 hour access to a potentially life-saving defibrillator. These units can be used to help resuscitate someone in cardiac arrest and increases the chances of survival from 3% to 47%.

The unit is identifiable as a bright yellow box on the front façade of West House’s modern annexe. As such, it is identifiable from Stanwell Road and benefits from illumination in darkness.

Welsh Hearts donated a state-of-the-art defibrillator to Penarth Town Council in 2015, when it was kept at The Paget Rooms. By installing the facility at West House, access is available for all the public, around the clock.

Welsh Hearts is a Cardiff-based charity, which works nationwide towards the prevention and management of heart disease in Wales, including funding the provision of defibrillators and emergency lifesaving equipment throughout the country.
